August 30, 2011
ePolk, Inc. has sent another local company into the clouds. John Stephens, Inc. is the latest Polk County firm doing business via a secured, offsite data center provided by ePolk. The recent migration of the Frostproof-based citrus corporation’s database adds to the growing number of Central Florida companies expanding their technology options with the reliability and security of the cloud.
“Our old server needed to be upgraded,” said Allison Stephens of John Stephens, Inc. “This move to the cloud eliminates that issue. We are free from the burden of maintaining a server. Now, we can expand when necessary with no trouble or added expense.”
Staffers can now able to access the operational database remotely using any mobile device, or continue normal practices working in-house. The cloud provides data security and disaster recovery capability far exceeding traditional servers that most companies keep on site. ePolk’s President Mike Kingham added, “The cloud provides our clients with peace of mind. Their data is safe and accessible when their office may not be.”
